Art and Design
Welcome to the Department of Art and Design

[smallpix]

Our key aim as a department is to communicate our own enthusiasm for art and design and to encourage pupils' creative impulses and ideas.

As a staff body we have a variety of art and design skills and experiences to offer. As a result pupils will find themselves studying everything from architecture to fashion design to 20th century painting and sculpture.

Within national guidelines we aim to present the subject in its full breadth. Pupils will find themselves making creative and aesthetic decisions in a variety of contexts and with a variety of media and equipment. For example pencil, pastel, printing ink, papier mache, clay, metal, wire, plaster, modroc, even computer.

We would hope that when you visit Madras College, or its website, that you get a strong sense of the creativity, skill and energy of the young artists and designers attending Madras College.

You will find regular displays of work in both school buildings, Kilrymont Road and South Street, and now on the Madras College website.
