Business Education and Computing

Welcome to the faculty of Business Education and Computing.

Our two subjects came together under one faculty in 2005 and is now managed by one Curriculum leader who has a background in both subject areas. We are working together in delivering the new Curriculum for Excellence outcomes for S1 and S2 in Technolgies which are relevent to our subject areas.

Last year we developed a joint S1 course for Curriculum for Excellence. Our S1 classes spend half their time with a Business Education teacher and the other half with a Computing teacher. We deliver the content which best suits our subject specialisms to ensure that pupils recieve high quality teaching from well informed practitioners.

This year our focus will be to devise our S2 - S3 courses for Curriculum for Excellence in Business Education and Computing. The Curriculum for Excellence outcomes have provided the framework, scope and freedom to deliver exciting and relevant units of learning.

While we work together on delivering the more general ICT element of the S1 course, we still very much celebrate the uniqueness of our own subject areas and the specialisms we have in them. This is very much the case from S2 onwards where our departments diverge into more discrete subject areas - Business Education focussing more on businesses, their processes, management, accounting, finance and administration practises whilst Computing focusses more on hardware technologies and applications of computers, digital media and programming i.e. Computer Science.

Use the links buttons down the left to find out more about our departments and the courses we deliver. The S1 - S2 ICT button tells you more about our joint S1 and S2 course.
