S1/S2 ICT Course

Overview

The aim of the course is to give pupils the opportunity to acquire the necessary knowledge, understanding and practical ICT skills to encourage confident handling of modern computer technology. Being skilled in using ICT is essential if children and young people are to be effective contributors able to communicate and interact on a global scale.

Information and Communications Technology (ICT) refers to forms of technology that are used to transmit, store, create, display, share or exchange information by electronic means. This broad definition of ICT currently includes such technologies as media, telecommunications, and computer hardware and software; it also includes equipment and services associated with these technologies, such as videoconferencing, email and blogs.

Homework

While there will be no formal homework exercises in S1 or S2, pupils will be asked from time to time to prepare for class tests using printed (or online) topic summarys.

Assessment

Pupils will be assessed in the following ways:

  • Each Unit has a tasks checklist. Each pupil will have their own checklist which their teacher will fill in whenever a task is successfully completed.
