Welcome to the Madras College Music Department. We have a thriving department. There are a variety of activities on offer from rock band to string quartets! Pupils are given the opportunity to perform regularly at our Spring, Summer and Christmas concerts as well as special events throughout the year.


 

Courses Offered

S1/2 - All pupils receive one period of music a week.

S3/4 - Pupils can choose to take the Standard Grade Music course.

S5/6 - We offer music at INT1, INT2, Higher and Advanced Higher level.

Annual Competitions & Events

Fife Festival of Music – individuals, groups, bands and orchestras all took part, many  gaining a first or second place
Fife Schools’ Burns Competition – winners of school competitions travelled to the Auchterderran Centre, Cardenden
Dunhill Cup – the Pipe Band play at this high-profile event
Bell Baxter Competition – a competition for accomplished musicians from Bell Baxter HS, Waid Academy and Madras College
Fife Schools’ Rock Competition – Schools’ competition in Rothes Halls


Piano examination

 

External Music Examinations

We encourage and help pupils through a range of external music examinations in both performing and theory.  Pupils may study ABRSM performing or Trinity Guildhall.
