Junior Debating Club (S1 – S3)The Junior Debating Club (S1 – S3) runs weekly, organised by Mrs Macfarlane and Mrs Harvie. If you like to argue, then come along and have your say!! You can take part in balloon debates, public speaking competitions and instant debates. You can also participate in organised debates, or come along to spectate. Debates take place between volunteer speakers, who prepare speeches and are ready to give and receive points of information. We like to debate topical issues and are always looking for new ideas. This year’s debates have included:
There are opportunities to enter competitions within the school. We are always keen to find people who are interested in participating in the Courier Junior Debating Competition! We have had numerous successes in this competition, often reaching the final.
Pick Up A Pen ClubJoin Mr. Hynes in room 216 at lunch time on Tuesdays to explore creative writing in all its forms.National Book Day Poetry ContestSee Mr. Hynes for information. Fife Lines Poetry CompetitionCongratulations to A. Thompson for winning the S1 category with her poem, "Evil". StanzaThis competition is open to all and will take place every autumn. Pushkin PrizeCongratulations to Fiona Albert for being one of the eight Scottish winners in the 2003-3004 contest. Well Done! Writing folios for this international writing competition are due in December.
