The Nrich Site June 99

In the June edition of the Interact Magazine we were pleased to see contributions from some of our students featured. In S2: Claire Kruithof, Kim Murray, Sophie Palmer, Anna Beedham, Jessamy Marsden for their solution to Symmetricality. And in our new S5: Sue Lui for her solution to Overturning fracsum. Well done!

Mathematique sans Frontiere 99

At the prizegiving ceremony on 17th June at Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh unfortuneately neither of our two teams, S4 and S5, achieved the top three positions. However they do deserve congratulations for both achieving a place in the top 10. You can read an account of the Contest and the overall results here.

Scottish Maths Challenge 99

This year Madras College contestants have achieved 5 Gold awards , 9 Silver awards and 8 Bronze awards.
The Gold and Silver award winners received their awards at a ceremony at St Andrews University on Tuesday 1st June. Congratulations to all concerned! Read an Account of the Contest and Region 2 results.
The Solutions to the set problems for this year's contest are also available.
 

UK Schools Junior Maths Challenge 99

Madras College contestants gained a record number of awards this year in this contest: 16 Gold awards , 20 Silver awards and 17 Bronze awards. The Gold award winners received their awards at a school assembly. Congratulations to all concerned!
