We must congratulate Alan Riddell (S6) this month on his impressive achievement of cracking two of the tough nuts: Multiplication Magic and Shades of Fermat's Last Theorem . He had previously also solved one of the December Tough Nuts: Rational Round. Well done Alan.

Mathematique sans Frontiere 99

Repeating our success of last year both our S4 and S5 teams have been placed in the top 10 in their sections in Scotland. The prizegiving ceremony is to be held at Heriot-Watt University in June and the pizewinners will be announced at the ceremony. SQA Exams

Once again we have the answers to the Higher, Credit and General papers on our Web Site. Candidates who sat their Exams this month can check their answers to see how they got on (if they dare!)

Scottish Maths Challenge 99

The winners are now announced. Madras College contestants achieved 5 Gold awards , 9 Silver awards and 8 Bronze awards. The Gold and Silver award winners will receive their awards at a ceremony to be held at St Andrews University on Tuesday 1st June. Bronze award winners will receive their awards from their class teacher. The school will contact winners who are now on Exam leave with details of the arrangements. Congratualations to all concerned!
