The Nrich Site
Several of our students have had their problem solutions published in the November issue of the Interact Magazine on the Nrich Site. Gordon Maclachlan and Alan Riddell from S6, Sue Liu from S4 and David Stephens from S3 all solved Chord. Sue Liu in addition solved Eyeball Theorem. Helen Smith (S1) gained a mentioned for Penta Colour. Congratulations to them all!
Enterprising Mathematics in Scotland
Our team of Sue Liu and Jack-Edwards Fox from S4 and Toby Gilbertson and David Stephens from S3 acheived a creditable ninth position in the rankings at the final of the Enterprising Mathematics in Scotland Contest. The Contest was held at Northern College, Dundee on Friday, 6th November. The full results can be read here.
Staff News
We would like to welcome Miss Susan Thomson who has been appointed to our vacant Maths post. She will take up her post after the Christmas break. At present she is teaching at West Calder High School.
The UK Senior Mathematical Challenge
This year the date of the contest , Friday 20th November, coincided with an In-Service day. Our students were on holiday. However 56 of them sacrificed part of their day off to sit the challenge! Thanks to them all for the enthusiasm. Preliminary results are available.
