The Maths Challenge Contest 2007

This annual contest is run by the Scottish Mathematical Council and is open to students in schools from the whole of Scotland. There are five geographical Sections: The North; East and Central (Madras College is in this section); Lothian and Borders; West; South West. The contest involves two sets of 5 problems and although the sets of problems and issue dates are common to all Sections, the prize structure within each Section is independent of the other Sections. The contest is further divided according to age with the following divisions: Junior (S1/S2) , Middle (S3/S4) and Senior (S5/S6). Finally there are three categories of award: Gold, Silver and Bronze.

In this year's contest Madras College achieved 3 Gold, 3 Silver and 8 Bronze awards. This is an excellent result for Madras College and continues our long line of notable successes in this contest. Our Gold and Silver prizewinners were invited to a ceremony held at the University of Dundee on Wednesday 6th June where they received their awards.
