Seating Couples

Equipment:

Paper, pencil and a number of Blue and Red counters both large and small

Number of players:

2

The Set-up:

Large counters represent Gentlemen and small counters represent Ladies

On paper draw a plan of a circular 'Dinner Table' with places marked for the diners:

At the start of the game no couples are seated. the table is empty.

A Move:

On his turn it is Blue's task to seat a Blue Couple side-by-side at the table. The couple is represented by one large blue counter for the gentleman and one small blue counter for the lady. Likewise on her turn Red must seat a Red Couple again side-by-side ( one large red counter and one small red counter). Blue starts.

However no gentleman is allowed to sit next to a lady that is not his own partner.

You win:

If your opponent cannot seat his/her next couple then you win.

Comments:

Here is a game in progress with three couples seated so far:

It is Red to play. Notice that Red cannot seat her couple at the top left of the table between the two Blue gentlemen. Red does have a winning move. Where does she seat her couple so that after Blue's next move she can still seat another Red Couple?
