Advanced Higher Biology
Course Content
The Advanced Higher Biology course is made up of three units:
- Cells and Proteins
- Organisms and Evolution
- Investigative Biology + Pilot Study + Project
Further details about the Advanced Higher course contents and copies of the power-points etc are made available to students as the course proceeds - through file sharing on GLOW. This requires a login.
Assessment
Each unit has an assessment at the end of it. Students must also complete an internally marked 'Pilot Study' and carry out/write up an individual practical project which is then externally marked. There are several practical activities carried out by the whole class in the local area – some in conjunction with the University. The students will sit their Preliminary exam in late January and a supplementary prelim in mid-April. The final exam is in May.
Entry Requirements
Recommendation for entry into the course requires an A or B grade pass at Higher level or equivalent.
